This is my history with PowerShell,
While ago started with MS10325A – Automating Administration with Windows PowerShell 2.0 course.
Of course I was excited to learn this new tool and also a bit scared as I’ve come from a long time of administering systems and operational systems with a GUI, no background with coding only at college and this is a completely new thing despite that I have been playing around with JavaScript and VBScript to automate and speed up my tasks whenever it possible for the Windows environment.
Well after that training session I was compelled to start doing more and more with PowerShell , but I had no luck at that time as the whole company had inherited BATCH codes or even VBScript codes and no one want to take time with PowerShell and start converting or getting slower introduction of the PowerShell into our systems, if that happens today will certainly take the lead on that .
So my PowerShell skills were let’s say dormant, until the time I change job and started to work for a company that automates everything, mainly using PowerShell, of course, integrated with a lot of other languages but it’s a chance to start all over again! So from the dormant state I woke up like a wizard with a lot of experience but my wand was kind of “rusty” and I should be back to speed up myself, so started to make every single available online course and read the famous books everyone reads.
From the MVA “Getting Started with Microsoft PowerShell” as I have to dig out the knowledge from the past until the good reading of “PowerShell 3 in a month of Lunches” I’ve started to revive all the knowledge I had and build the new knowledge.
I can say it’s a long road in front of me but with dedication and passion I am getting there, I feel sometimes behind other professionals, but community and friends and other professionals are helping me to overcome the barriers.
I would like to say thanks for a lot of people but I will let the post for another opportunity!
If you see yourself like me, don’t think it’s too late to restart, you are probably a very rounded engineer and you don’t miss the fun yet! Get your things together and start up with the PowerShell study, soon you will be coding and doing fantastic things!
Hope you enjoyed
Have fun
Michael
